August Favourites

Dior Star, Clarins Concealer

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette

Sony A5000

Okay, how the fudge is it the end of August? I'm sure I've only been back from uni for a month or so but no, I've been back for three whole months, how has that happened? I feel I should be able to get my time back that has gone so quickly! I've only got a year and then I'll be graduating (hopefully), I'm no where near old enough to go out into the big, wide world on my own!

Lets get down to the favourites after my little panic typing session there. This month has been pretty good for favourites, I had my birthday and I was lucky enough to get a Boots voucher which I have pretty much spent up so I purchased a few little treats for myself and I'm absolutely loving them. First up is the Dior Star foundation, you can read a more detailed review here. A brief overview of this is that it's gorgeous, glowing skin in a bottle, even if I'm having a dull skin day this stuff seriously cheers it up. It also matches my skin tone perfectly which I never, ever get. Another purchase with the Boots voucher was the Clarins Instant Concealer, read my review here. This stuff is perfect for me, I like to use the same concealer for both under my eyes and blemishes because I'm lazy and this works really well for both. It probably works better under my eyes if I had to choose but I still use it on blemishes because it's quite moisturising so doesn't cling to any dry patches.

My other big purchase of the month has been the Naked Smoky palette. I was going to wait for this but then some kind heart tweeted that there was a voucher code to get £10 off it on feelunique, well into my basket it went and when it got delivered I couldn't stop staring. It's so pretty! I've already made so many gorgeous makeup looks using this palette ranging from matte to shimmery, a mix of the two, nude looks and gorgeous smoky looks. I might do a post on a few different looks that I've made using this, let me know what you think.

I've been really loving mixing mascaras this month, you can read my post on that here. As I said in the post, I've never found a mascara that does exactly what I want it to giving lots of length and volume (I think the closest I got was Benefit Roller Lash but it wasn't perfect) however, the Benefit Bad Gal Lash and Eyeko Lengthening Skinny Mini brush mascara over each other works really well because Bad Gal Lash gives volume and the Eyeko mascara gives length. It's just a pain that I hate to  buy higher end mascaras because they don't last any longer than 6 months, I'll have to try combining some drugstore mascaras, I'll get back to you on that one.

As it was my birthday my biggest purchase of the month has been my Sony A5000, this is a beauty of a camera, pretty light to say that the quality of the pictures is pretty impressive. I've really been getting into my photography at the moment and as I'm going to Barcelona next week (excited Emma at the moment!) I'm going to take this with me and you're probably going to see a couple of posts about my trip there!
