Blog Update

You've probably noticed I've got a new design and I have the amazing lovefrombe to thank for it all, please go and send her love and thanks for the brilliant work she has done for me!

It was a really easy process for me, I'm sure Be spent too much of her time designing this but she made this so simple for me, asking what kind of design I wanted, she even took the time to read on my blog that I liked green and purple so looked for some colour schemes that would look lovely on my blog. As soon as she showed me the second design I fell in love with it, Be had made it exactly as I wanted!

These are the colours that I chose, I think they are such pretty pastel colours and it turned out that they look really pretty together.

Be then set up a template blog that we could both look at and change, although because I am horrendously bad with technology I didn't change anything until Be had completed it all. I then sent her a few pictures of blog designs that I liked for her to get some ideas for a header, I explained I only wanted a simple header with a little colour in the background and what you can see is the second design she came up with.

I love the amazing sidebar that Be created with my picture and little icons, I love how she even put colours around my picture!

Be was so thoughtful and even made me a signature to go at the end of each post which I really love, I think it makes it look more professional but also personal too.

After all this it was just a case of transferring it all over to my blog which with me being no techwiz I found difficult so Be had to do this for me too! I looked on my blog and squealed in delight, it looks so much better now that Be has worked her magic and I'm so happy with it.
This all took hardly any time at all, Be emailed me last night saying she would like to help me redesign my blog after I commented on her post saying she was offering to help. I thought it would all take ages but just over 16 hours later (sleep included in that time!) it was all done and my new blog is now up and running!

Thank you again Be for this amazing work you have done, I couldn't have done any of this on my own!

I love... X-Men

X-Men Days of Future Past

I'd always thought the X-Men films were for guys, I was never going to like them but then last year that all changed, my boyfriend and I love films and whilst at his house we were running out of things to watch (he has a lot of scary films and that is not my thing!) so we ended up watching X-Men First Class which basically is about how all the Mutants meet when they are younger (In 1962), X-Men First Class is the prequel to the previous X-Men films which are about the Mutants in present day so they are a lot older.

In any X-Men film there is a very impressive cast, from Hugh Jackman who plays Wolverine and I think is in most (if not all) the X-Men films, Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart are Magneto and Professor X in the X-Men films set in the present and Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are the same characters set in the past (although confusingly these are actually the newer films, I'm getting confused myself here) Also in the films are Jennifer Laurence and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men First Class and X-Men Days of Future Past).

I was getting really excited to see the new Days of Future Past and I realised that I would be coming home from uni the weekend when it came out so I made my boyfriend promise to see it with me and so that's what happened last Saturday and I was not dissapointed! It was well worth the wait (now we just have a two year wait to see X-Men Apocalypse) The cinema was full and I think everyone loved the film, It's hard to explain what happens in this film so you could watch the trailer here. Basically it has pretty much all cast members from all films and involves Wolverine going back to the past to save the future. As a friend who loves X-Men said to me "This film pretty much wipes out what happened in the previous films" but I won't say anything else, you'll have to go and watch it. However, it's probably worth seeing the previous films before you see this one as you get to know the characters and what each mutant's power is as well as seeing which are the 'good' or 'bad' characters.

Spur of the Moment

I thought I would do a bit of a random post today, I'm sat on the train with no 3G so that means no twitter or reading blogs. I might as well be a bit productive and write myself a blog post as I don't have the time when I'm at uni. This is very spur of the moment, I haven't actually decided what this post is going to be about. Well planned Emma.

I seem to be on trains quite a lot when I'm at uni, I come home once in the term and then I have to get the train home at the end of the term with a months worth of clothes in tow, my hand hurts just remembering how heavy my case was, that was not a fun journey! I'm getting to the end of my first year and I am really looking forward to being home for three months. I love uni, don't get me wrong, I have made some amazing friends and memories but I'm ready for being home, having some peace and not having to do so much work! It also helps that I've got a holiday to look forward to and it's my birthday in August! I'm also looking forward to being able to blog a lot more, I'm really hoping to post everyday when I can.

I'm also really excited to use my new camera that I got at the weekend when I was home. I wasn't planning on getting one, I wanted my dad's approval of the camera I wanted because he knows so much about them so I had found a secondhand one that I thought was reasonable but I was going to wait till I'd at least finished for summer. I then decided to google this camera and see what it said about it and what popped up? An offer on Argos for this camera and it was only £30 more to get it new, well it's safe to say I was tempted, it then showed me some offers connected to the camera and one was to get a free accessories case worth £60 for FREE. Well then it was bound to happen, I went into Argos and found my camera but I decided to wait and not go into it too quick, it was on offer but it was still a lot of money. My boyfriend and I then went to see the new X-Men film, a great film may I add and whilst watching it I'd decided the camera would be mine that day. So for the second time that day we went into Argos again and I got the camera and free accessories package for a very good deal, I don't think the accessories kit is worth £60, I only got a camera bag, a memory card and lens cloth but it was free so I'm not complaining.

The camera I got is the Canon EOS 1100d and it is a beauty. A post will be coming in about two weeks when I am reunited with my new toy when I get back with more details about the camera and of course some pictures, I am really happy with it and I believe I will get my use out of it.

I hope this post was okay. It's a bit of a random one but once summer starts there will be a constant stream of posts from me, if you have any posts you would like to see please comment below, inspiration is always wanted!

Real Techniques Brushes

So after seeing loads of really good reviews and lots of YouTube videos of beauty gurus using these brushes I thought I would give them a go and I have definitely not been disappointed! There are so many reasons why these brushes are the best I've ever used. For one they're pretty cheap, for about £20 you get this set with four brushes in so it's about £5 a brush, you can pay that much for one brush that isn't anything like the quality of these. I can't think of a day that has gone by that I haven't used these brushes for putting my makeup on, I start with the buffing brush for foundation, at the moment I'm using the L'Oreal True Match foundation which is pretty thin in texture and this brush seems to blend the foundation better than the actual pointed foundation brush which I find is better for thicker foundations. I do like the buffing brush for powder which is the perfect size for it so I could do with getting another buffing brush really. The contour brush is used for bronzer. I only use the detailer brush for if I'm wearing eyeshadow but it's a really good brush for that too.

The next thing about these brushes is how soft they are, when I bought them I sat there for a while brushing them across the back of my hand and my cheek, they are just that soft. Then when I need to wash them they seem to dry instantly which is always a plus, with other brushes I've had them drying for a few days and I can't use them when I need to.

I love how classy these brushes look, is that really sad? I like to be proud of my brushes and I really can be with these. The matt black contrasted with the rose gold looks really pretty, well done Sam and Nic Chapman!

I'm definitely thinking of buying some more of these brushes, not sure which ones, maybe when I find a need for a different type of brush or I fancy treating myself I'll invest in some new ones.

You can get the Real Techniques Core Collection here

Have you tried any of the Real Techniques brushes? Any other brands of brushes you love?

Time to be happy

I thought today I would write about something different, something that could help cheer people up just in case anyone need a little boost.

So what makes me happy?

1. A sunny day, Now we're getting into summer it (hopefully) means more sun, I know the sun cheers most people up but it just seems to lift my mood when I see the sun, I love it if I have nothing planned for the day and I can just text a friend and see if they fancy going out in the sun to enjoy the day.

2. Exciting plans, I love having things planned, whether it's a day out to the zoo, a shopping trip with my mum or a holiday, I love planning things and then just enjoying that day.

3. The last exam, I know this sounds like a funny one but I mean the last five minutes in an exam when I've finished and I can just imagine what I'm going to get up to in the long holidays.

4. A good book, I love reading, I don't seem to do that much now because I have loads of work to do so when I'm relaxing I just want to flop on the sofa and watch tv. When I'm off and have nothing to do I love getting into a good book and just being in that world, an avid reader will know what I mean, when the book is so good you can't think of anything else and you just want to get back to it, the only problem is when you've finished it you don't know what to do with yourself!

5. Harry Potter, I grew up with Harry Potter, when I was younger my parents read the first few books to me before I went to sleep then when I got old enough I read them all myself, I can't count how many times I've read them but they are just so good, I was lucky enough to get to have the first book on the syllabus when I did my English AS level, it was just so good, even that couldn't even ruin it for me. I love the films too, I think they are the one film series that very very nearly does the books justice, some people may disagree with me on that one but I think the films are brilliant, I know nearly all the words to the first film because I watched it so many times. I don't even have a favourite because every single one is amazing. Anyway enough on Harry Potter but I would like to question where my Hogwarts letter is?

6.  Chocolate! I'm a chocolate addict, seriously I eat way too much of it, I really should cut down but it's just too good! Give me a bar of Dairy Milk and we'll be friends instantly!

7. Reading someone's blog post, I really enjoy reading blogs, especially the different ones that are about something totally different or that make me think. I also love reading the comments people post on my blog, it's such a nice thing to read when someone has taken the time to read my blog and post a lovely comment, thank you so much to anyone who comments I don't mind what you say as long as it's nice, I don't even mind a bit of criticism although it would be nice if it was constructive.

8. Getting a text off my best friend who lives a few hundred miles away, I'll explain this one a bit more, I met my best friend Ali on the first day of high school and we clicked straight away, then in year 9 she moved away but now, five years later, we still keep in touch, we try to see each other at least once and year and we text every now and then. Because I rarely see her I love it when I get a text off her out of the blue asking if I'm okay. So if you have a friend who you don't speak to much but you miss them, give them a text, I bet it will cheer you both up.

9. Putting makeup on, I know this is a weird one but whenever I put makeup on it cheer me up, it gives me that little boost of confidence and if I'm feeling down I sometimes put a little bit of makeup on to try and cheer me up. I know this won't work for everyone but even my flatmate said she does this and it's worth a try.

10. A smile, the phrase 'a smile costs nothing' is totally true, when a stranger just smiles at you and you smile back it does cheer you up, try it one day, smile at someone and if they smile back you've probably just made their day.

So what makes you happy?

Recommendations please!

I'm in the middle of exams at the moment, I have one on Tuesday that I am so fed up of revising for and then I'm going home this weekend for a bit of relaxing before coming back to uni to do my last exam which is on 3rd June. I've decided that I'm going to treat myself after that as I've been working really hard and when I haven't been revising I've been working so I haven't been able to have any time off.

Seeing as I'm really loving blogging and I always want to improve it I thought I would buy myself a camera, currently I'm using my iphone 5c which does have a really good camera on it, I think its 8mp which is pretty good, we have an old camera at home that is only 7mp. I don't want a really expensive one as I am a student but a good camera does always come in useful, I can use it to create some really good pictures for my blog but I'm also going on holiday too and I do want to take some snaps on my travels!

My dad is a proper camera nerd, I couldn't tell you how many cameras he owns, I don't know if he even knows so I'm going to ask his advice but I thought I would also ask my fellow bloggers, what camera do you use? I have to say I do always judge blogs by their photos and if people are doing that with mine then I want some good photos!

Any recommendations would be really appreciated, Thanks guys!!!

Daily Makeup

For the past few weeks these are the products that I have been putting on my face (that actually doesn't sound very nice does it?) the majority of these are tried and tested (apart from the L'Oreal True Match Foundation and Superliner which I've been wearing for the past two weeks and I am loving but I don't count that as truly tried and tested)

Above : L'Oreal True Match Foundation in Rose Vanilla and Rose Ivory, Collection Lasting Concealer in Fair, Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara, Revlon blush in Haute Pink, L'Oreal Superliner, Topshop Glow in Polished, Soap and Glory Lid Stuff -What's Nude (although I mainly use Mudhoney for my eyebrows, Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot, Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and on Bronze and The Body Shop Bronzer in 01.

My top favourites from this collection are the Collection concealer, it is a good thickness for me and it lasts, I love the Thick and Fast mascara, it just makes my eyelashes look amazing. One Heck of a Blot is a life saviour for when I've got oily skin and the Body Shop bronzer gives me the perfect colour, you can apply a little but it's also buildable too which I really like depending on what mood I'm in.

I don't always wear eyeshadow but when I do it's pretty much guarunteed to be the Naked 1 palette that I will be using. I love it, the colours are amazing and the texture and staying power is the best I've seen.

I would recommend any of the above products, they are really good for pale skin.

Take me to...

Everyone has a few places in the world that they want to go to so I thought I would share my list

1. America

New York

Picture from - New York

a. New York!
I think New York is one of those places that nearly everyone wants to go to if they love the city, London is one of my favourite places as I just love the city so obviously New York is a place I must go to! It will be an expensive trip so a lot of saving up is in order to go there!

b. Nashville!
I love country music and they say Nashville is the home of country music so I really want to have a quick stop there if I ever go to that part of America.

Pricture from - Florida

c. Disneyworld, Florida
I went to Disneyland Paris when I was in year nine and I loved it so I'd love to go to Florida as there are so many attractions there, a visit to the Harry Potter World would be a must!

d. California, especially LA
These two I don't really know why I want to go, I just want to see the sights and explore. The weather is a plus too!

I've always wanted to visit Australia, again I'm not too sure why, it's just one of those places I want to explore and see everything it has to offer.

 - Bali

3. Bali
I've heard that Bali is a really relaxing place to be and I've never been to anywhere like that at all so it's on my to do list, the only thing that puts me off going (and Australia too) is the fact they have so many spiders and other bugs there that I would be absolutely petrified of, I can't stand spiders, it's not that I don't like them, I actually can't be near them, someone once said if you were paid a million pounds to be in a room full of spiders would you do it and I said no, I'm that scared of them so Bali may be a no go area for me.

Picture from - Rio De Janerio

 4. Rio De Janeiro
I would love to see the carnivals, the colours are amazing and it just looks like such a happy place to be. Again, the sights look wonderful and I just really want to go.

So what places are on your wishlist? Any similar to mine?

These boots were made for walking...

New Look Boots

Say hello to my new best friends, look how gorgeous they are. Now you're thinking 'I bet they were expensive, she's a student how can she afford them?' Well think again! They were only £11! Thank you very much New Look for having a sale and only having these bad boys in my size, there are some perks of having big feet.

My dad counted that I took 14 pairs of shoes when I went to uni, that isn't that bad is it? But I have bought more shoes since I've been there, shush don't tell him! I know I shouldn't buy any more shoes but when I saw these and then the price tag I couldn't resist. They are pretty high but they're also comfy so I'm going to get loads of wear out of them. I think they look really nice with some light blue jeans and they make the whole outfit look a bit dressy but not too extreme.

What do you think about my boots? Have you got anything you're really proud of that you got in the sale that you can't help but show everyone?

The Liebster Awards

After not looking at my blog for a couple of days I came to see that the lovely Jess from What Jess Does Next had nominated me for the Liebster Award which was created for new bloggers to get to know each other and read other blogs.

The rules are as follows:-

1. Post the award on your blog  2. Thank the blogger who presented this award and link back to their blog

3. Write 11 random facts about yourself  4. Answer 11 questions posted by the presenter and ask 11 for you nominees to answer  5. Nominate 11 bloggers who you feel deserve this award and who have less than 1000 followers  6. Let the nominees know you have nominated them

11 random facts about me...

1. I'm addicted to chocolate
2. I'm massively scared of spiders, if I see one I run away screaming (and yes I've been known to cry too)
3. I know too many words to the film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
4. Buying makeup makes me happy
5. The first concert I went to was Atomic Kitten, the most recent was Taylor Swift
6. As much as I love uni, I can't wait to finish, I'm fed up of exams!
7. I can't decide if I love summer or Christmas more, the build up to Christmas is the best but I love hot weather, however I would never want to combine them both
8. I've never had a pet and I don't have any brothers or sisters either
9. London is my favourite city but I don't think I could live there, it's just too busy (and expensive)
10. I hate not having my nails painted
11. I used to work on a deli counter so I know a lot about cheese!

Questions from Jess...

1. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I love it when people comment on my posts, all the comments just make me happy and it's nice to know what I'm writing is being read and is sometimes useful to people.

2. What was your first foray into makeup?
I can't actually remember, I think it was one of the basics like mascara or a concealer.

3. Which F.R.I.E.N.D.S character are you?
I don't actually like Friends so I can't really answer this one (please don't give me hate!)

4. If you were travelling on a budget would you prefer camping or hostels?

I used to go camping all the time with my parents, we once went to Ireland camping and it rained everyday, that has put me off camping (I have nothing against Ireland, just the two weeks we went it rained everyday but one so the holiday wasn't the best I've been on) so it would have to be a hostel, that way if it does rain you can dry off and have a nice shower!

5. Have a look at your iPod and check out what your most played song is, and explain why you love it.

Dancin' Away with my Heart by Lady Antebellum, I love this song, I went to see them live and I think I nearly cried when they played this, there's just something about this song that I can relate to and has meaning to me.

6. Who is your most loved blogger?
I love Vivianna Does Makeup  and Lily Pebbles, I find their posts to be really interesting and I love their videos too.

7. Are you more of a city person or a country person?

I love the city, London is one of my favourite places to be but I couldn't live there, I do find it boring in the country though, I love the hustle and bustle of city life.

8. Name your favourite movie or TV show.

This is a really tricky one for me, I think my favourite movies are the Harry Potter series and probably Desperate Housewives is my favourite TV show

9. Of all the food you can buy at the cinemas, what is the one you go for the most?

I tend to buy my food before I go in because it's so expensive but I do love the popcorn too.

10. Do you think that uggboots are acceptable to wear in public?

For women yes, never for men but I hate it when people wear them and they're walking on the side of the shoe.

11. Which season is your favourite and what country would you like to experience it in the most?

I love summer because it's so warm and sunny and it just cheers me up, I would like to experience it in Australia, mainly just because I've never been there. However I love winter when it's Christmas.

My questions for the nominees...

1. What was the first concert you went to?
2. Favourite food?
3. What made you start blogging?
4. Reading a book or watching a film?
5. Favourite place in the world?
6.What is your greatest achievement?
7.Night in or night out?
8. Do you have anything you feel is lucky? Or something you have to do before for luck?
9.  Name a time when you were really nervous
10. Who is your favourite blogger or youtuber?
11. What is the most expensive thing you've ever bought for yourself?

The nominees are...
1. rinicawrites
2. callmechlo
3. ciarapocket
4. ohhsorosie
5. Beauty Soup
6. fashion well done
7. rosemaryofelephants
8. simplyme
9. BerryBloomXO
10. glassow
11. alittlebitofjenn
