See you in a bit!

I'm back at uni now and it's the busiest time of the year, finishing essays, revising for exams, doing the dreaded exams as well as attempting to have some kind of social life (I can't work all the time). This all means a lot of planning ahead for my blog. I have got some posts written which I will be posting in the next five weeks whilst I'm busy with uni work but I promise after that I will be posting nearly everyday because I've got a nice three months off before I start my second year.

I know I've already written a post about exams and my tips for people doing them but I would like to say Good Luck to anyone doing exams and don't stress (at least try not to, I know how hard it is!) they will be over soon!

Pink To Make The Boys Wink

Boots had their 3 for 2 offer on again and I already had two things (for my mum) that I thought I would get yet another nail varnish. This one is Barry M's Nail Paint in Strawberry Ice Cream. It's the most gorgeous baby pink colour that is so summery and lovely. I love the selection of colours and types of nail varnishes that are on offer with Barry M and I think the textures of the nail varnishes are really lovely too, they go on really well with just two coats and they don't seem to chip too quickly.
The picture above doesn't really do the colour justice, it is a bit brighter than shown but it's not too bright of a pink which is what I like about it, this colour is girly but not too over the top that you have to be a girly girl to wear it. I would say this is in-between a pastel and a bright pink. (I've said bright too many times now, sorry about that one)

I'm really loving this colour, it's a really nice colour for spring and summer and will go with a lot of summery outfits.

What nail colours are you loving this Spring?

The Beauty Scenario Tag

This is my version of the Beauty Scenario tag, there's a few questions I've changed as I don't actually own any high end foundations (or many high end products for that matter.)

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations which one do you keep?

Even though I've only used the L'Oreal True Match foundation for a week it would have to be this one, it makes my skin look so flawless and has a nice amount of coverage, I would say medium coverage as it covers my spots but it't not too heavy. I've never really found a foundation that I've fallen in love with but this one comes pretty close.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth, do you approach the situation or ignore it completely?

This is going to sound really bad but I think I would have to ignore it unless I knew the person who was interviewing me which is quite unlikely, I just think it would be a bit awkward and I wouldn't want the lady to remember me as being the one who pointed out her flaws! Although I suppose that she might think that I was truthful and wanted the best for people if I did tell her?

3. You're not feeling yourself and you need a pick me up lipstick, which one do you go for?

I think I would chose Rimmel Guest List, it's a pinky colour that isn't too obvious but it does make me feel like I've made a bit of extra effort, it's just a really nice easy lipstick to wear.

4. You go back in time to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?

Well I am still in my teenage years although I suppose I am getting to the end of them, one more year of being a teenager! I don't think I did that much wrong, I did start out using concealer as foundation though when I only had concealer, I didn't put loads on but I put it on more than what was needed. I think I would straighten my hair less, I grew up in the times when it was fashionable to have your hair straight and I've realised that I suit my hair curly and not as straight and flat.

5) You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut but they hear wrong and give you a pixie hair cut. Do you a) smile, say thank you, leave and call your mum and cry hysterical b)cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) complain to the manager and demand a refund.

I think it would depend on my mood, if I was feeling bold I would complain to the manager and then go and cry to my mum but whilst complaining to the manager I would probably end up crying because I would hate my hair to be that short! I can't decide, I'd like to say I would be bold enough to complain to the manager but I don't know if I would have the guts!

6) Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which 'do it all' palette do you pack in your makeup bag?

I think I would have to say my Naked one palette because it has got the most gorgeous colours in it and I could do a dark smokey eye if we went out at night but a subtle day look as well.

7) Your house has been robbed, don't worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What's the product you really hope is safe?

I'm not sure about this one, I don't have any expensive products, I think it would have to be my first ever lipstick as you can't really replace that one, it's the Rimmel Lipstick by Kate Moss in the shade 107, it's a really bold 'going out' shade that I think suits my skin tone.

8) Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. do you a) just pretend you haven't noticed b) ask them to repurchase it or c) secretly do the same to something of theirs ...

For one I don't let my friends borrow my makeup, I just don't think it's hygienic but if I was to I would hope they wouldn't return it in an awful condition. I suppose if they did I would have to say something (which is neither of them) I wouldn't ask them to repurchase it as I would feel cheeky, maybe hope they would repurchase it for me as a sorry after I said something to them but I would never do it to something of theirs, that's just mean!

Fake it

No7 Fake Tan

I'm pale, there's no hiding that one so I have to fake it as I can't afford a holiday every few months. I first tried No7 Perfectly Bronzed Quick Dry Tinted Lotion a couple of years ago and I think this bottle is my fourth or fifth, I just find it that good (it is a bit expensive so I like to buy it with the £5 off skincare No 7 voucher you get from Boots). As long as I rub it in properly and don't rush it when I'm doing that then it usually doesn't turn out streaky. It does have a smell to it but I actually quite like it and I wouldn't really call it a biscuity smell either.

It does say that it's wear off but I've found that as long as you leave it a good 16 hours after putting it on (best to do it after showering) before getting wet then it usually stays on for a good few days, after I start to lose a bit of the colour I tend to re-do it and then I will be good till the end of the week or even longer.

Fake Tan

The picture above shows what colour it comes out of the bottle but then once I've rubbed it in I have a very slight hint of colour and gradually over a couple of hours I start to get some colour to my pastey legs. If I haven't used this for a few weeks then I usually fake tan one night then a day or two later I fake tan again and I'll have the desired colour, if I was to keep fake tanning then I could probably get away with doing it once a week.

I would recommend exfoliating before using this to avoid it going all blotchy.

Have you got and really good fake tans that you would recommend?

Gone in Seconds

Bourjois Nail Polish Remover

If you're anything like me and you love wearing nail varnish but hate the hassle of taking it off this is the product for you. The Bourjois Magic Nail Varnish Remover is so good, as it says on the pot it takes 1 second to remove the polish, I wouldn't say 1 second, maybe 3 seconds but I don't think that would have the same ring to it so I'll let Bourjois off with that one, it is a really good idea, I don't know why no other company has come up with this genius idea. There is a sponge soaked in very strong nail varnish remover with a slit in the sponges to put the top of your finger in, I tend to leave it in for a couple of seconds then twist my finger and most of the time all the nail varnish is removed. If you have quite a few coats of nail varnish on then you will need to repeat this process but for the majority of the time it works first time. I haven't yet used it to remove glitter nail varnish, I'm not sure if I'll end up with glitter all over my finger everytime I use it after and as to how long it works, well I'll get back to you on that one.

Are you going to give the Bourjois Magic Nail Varnish Remover a try? Have you got any 'magic' products that have the wow factor?

Exams Exams Exams

It's getting to that time of the year again when exams are stressing everyone out and now I'm in my fifth year of exams (I was sad enough to work it out when I was bored of revision) I think I've got enough experience to give some advice to those that need it (although I am by no means telling you what to do, just giving you some tips that I would have liked to have read when I first started doing exams).

So you've got exams? First thing to say is don't stress, I know everyone says that to you and I got fed up with that too but it really is important, when I start to stress I stop revising because for one I know it will make it worse and work myself up and there is just no use in that.

Secondly don't push yourself too hard, spending hours and hours slaving over my notes and books didn't do anything for me (well I never slaved, I just couldn't do that) they do say that doing short spurts of work is better than doing it for ages.

Take a break! I mean it, take loads! Don't spend everyday revising, you do need to take time off to do other things, meet some friends, do some baking (a personal favourite) just do something to take your mind off revision.

Just do your best, you know what you can and can't do, some people aren't going to get the top marks and that's just a fact, even if you worked everyday you still might not get that A. I leant that I wasn't going to get A*s after mocks and other essays, even my dad knew that, he agreed that if I got all A*s in my GCSEs he would buy me a Mulberry bag and I never got one. He's again agreed that if I get a first in my degree that he'll buy me one, well obviously I'm going to try my hardest now! Think of the Mulberry Emma! It's nothing to be ashamed of, not everyone is mega clever so don't spend all your time worrying and getting disappointed! Saying that, do try your best, do what you can. As long as you know that you've tried your hardest when you get your results that's all that matters!

Find what type of revision works for you, some people find mind maps, I like to rewrite all my notes a few times and then I start to remember them, I understand that this won't work for everyone and some people will find it takes ages and they will have another way that works for them. Try different types of revision when you are first starting to do exams and then when you do exams the next time you'll know what works for you. Saying this I seem to remember that different types of revision worked for different subjects, in maths you tend to have to work through reams and reams of the past papers your teachers give you but for other subjects that might not work.

Finally start early, I mean that one, when I did my AS and A levels I started really early and it did work. That way you have more time and you don't regret if nearer to exams. It also means that if you find something you don't understand you can get a teacher to go over it with you.

If this post just helps one person who is struggling I will be happy.

Good Luck to whoever has exams.

Haul time!

L'Oreal True Match foundation, Garnier Miracle cream, Barry M Gelly Nail Varnish, No7 Nail Varnish, Eyeliner

So as you can see I've been doing a little bit of shopping... just a little! However I would like to point out that this isn't all one shop, it has been done over a good month or so but I've got to the point where it was enough to show you what I was spending my pennies on, well this is it!

The first thing I bought were the No7 nail varnishes in Hotting Up and Pink Meringue and I had a No7 voucher to get some money off and then I think I also got the free gift they were doing (I don't think they are still doing this promotion because it was over four weeks ago) I'm wearing Hotting Up at the moment and it's such a lovely summery colour, it has pretty good staying power too and a long lasting nail varnish is a must for a summer holiday as you don't want to spend all your time doing your nails again after cooling off in the pool. I wouldn't recommend Pink Meringue as much unless you want a very pale colour for your nails, I suppose it would be good for people at school or work who want to wear something on their nails but it's subtle enough to go unnoticed.

I then got the Barry M Gelly nail varnish in Greenberry. This is another lovely summery colour, it does chip a bit and I'm not sure about the formula, its thin with just one coat but is then too thick with two coats but I love the colour so I will be trying it again.

I was in London and decided that I needed a bit of a change in my makeup so I purchased Garnier Miracle Skin Cream and after using it a couple of times I really like it, I'll be doing a full blog post on it soon when I have used it more.

Today I still wasn't happy with how my foundation was looking (not the Garnier Miracle Skin Cream) so I popped into Boots and got the L'Oreal True Match foundation in the lightest and second lightest shades as the light one seemed too light for me and I thought mixing the two together would be a good idea and I've seen that both Lily Pebbles and Vivianna Does Makeup do this so I hoped it would work for me too. I tested the two out on my hand and it does seem like a very watery foundation but this might be were I was going wrong with foundation as all my previous ones have been quite thick. This is another one that I'll try out more and get back to you.

The last product I got today was free (well it was 3 for 2 at Boots so when I got the True Match Foundations I got this free) and it is the L'Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim, I tested this out too when I got home and it looks like it's going to be a good 'un. I love liners that are like felt tips, they just work really well for me. The only thing that might not be as good as previous liners is it doesn't seem very black and bold, I like a thin line but it has to be very black, however I only did a quick practise so I might be very wrong about it.

What new products have you been buying?

Top Notch Products

I've been trying for ages to give these products an into they deserve but I just couldn't do them justice. These beauties help me so much, the Scholl Dry Skin Recovery Cream and Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter are both repurchases showing how much love I have for them. The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream has been with me for over a year and although I have to admit I sometimes forget about it, I come back to it and every time I do I remember how good it is.

Scholl Dry Skin Recovery Cream is just so good, I get really dry and horrible feet (I know it's not a nice subject but I bet the majority of people don't have nice feet and if they do they give a lot of care and attention to their tootsies) I use this at night around my heels and the balls of my feet as well as my toes if they're a bit dry. After a couple of weeks of use my feet feel as soft as a baby's bottom and then I forget to stop putting this cream on them and they go back to how they were, I really must stop doing this!

I don't know what to say about Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter, it's just so lovely, it has a really nice smell but not too over powering, when rubbed into my legs and arms it just sinks in and doesn't leave a sticky feeling, I have nothing bad to say about it, if you don't have it, you need to go out and get it! Now!!

Tresemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo is the best I've tried, it doesn't leave a white powder like some other brands. Instant Refresh just makes my hair look so much better when it's looking a bit down in the dumps and just gives it a bit of life.

The Body Shop Aloe Lip Care is my go to product when my lips are a bit sore, just a squidge on my lips, massage it in a bit with my finger to start it's magic then in a couple of hours my lips with be all soft and back to normal again.

And last but not least Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is such a versatile product, I use it to tame my eyebrows, on my eczema, it's such an all rounder. Last night my eyelids were a bit sore so I put a bit on there and now they're back to normal. The Eight Hour Cream is a bit on the pricey side but I've still got loads of it left after having it for over a year so it's an investment well worth making.

What are your go to products?

New Obsession

Do you want to build a snowman??? Yes, yesterday I finally got round to watching Frozen, I can now see why there is so much hype around it! For one the songs are so catchy! I'm currently listening to Let it Go and I already know most of the words. I love this film, it's got a cute story, the characters are so likeable - Olaf the snowman is amazing! And all the singers have the most amazing voices, I never knew Kristen Bell had such a gorgeous voice, I wish I could sing like that but I manage to kill each song I sing along to but they really are just too good!

Seriously if you haven't watched Frozen yet you have to see it, you won't regret it, I think it's become the highest grossing animation ever which has got to show that it's pretty good, beating all other Disney films as well as the likes of Toy Story and Monsters Inc (just a few of my favourites!)

Thursday, 3 April 2014

I realised this morning that it's been a while since I last blogged, sorry about that. This post is just a little one to make myself feel better before I do a proper post when I have the time, might seem like a bit of a waste of time but oh well!

I came home last weekend and I seem to have been busy everyday (including today), I've been seeing family, spending some time with my boyfriend as I don't see him when I'm away at uni as well as doing some work, I've got exams in May so need to get my revision hat on!

I'm planning on doing a March Favourites in the next couple of days but I don't think there will be many because I banned myself from buying makeup for lent, that has kinda worked but I have had a couple of lapses, not too many though!

Right I need to go and get ready as I'm meeting some friends to go to the cinema.
